In the name of God Amen.
I John Armstrong of the City of Paterson in the County of Passaic and State
of New Jersey being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and
publish this my last will and testament in manner following.
First: It is my will and
I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and
satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
Second: I give and bequeath
unto my brother William Alexander Armstrong now residing at Clarendon Province
of Quebec Canada the sum of one dollar.
Third: All the rest residue
and remainder of my estate of whatsoever it may consist and wheresoever
it may be situate I give devise and bequeath unto the following named my
brother Robert R Armstrong his wife Rebecca Armstrong and their children
viz Elizabeth Armstrong, William Armstrong, John Armstrong, Robert R Armstrong
Jr., Mary Armstrong, Sarah Catherine Armstrong, Henry M Armstrong and Edgar
B Armstrong share and share alike to them their heirs and assigns forever.
Lastly: I hereby nominate
and appoint my brother Robert R Armstrong and my nephew Robert R Armstrong
executors of this my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of September eighteen
hundred and ninety nine.

R Hudson one of the witnesses in the annexed writing purporting to be the
last will and testament of John Armstrong the testator therein named deceased
being duly sworn doth depose and say that he saw the said testator sign
and seal the said annexed writing and heard him publish and declare the
same as and for his last will and testament; that at the time of the doing
thereof the said testator was of sound disposing mind memory and understanding
as far as this deponent knows and as he verily believes that Schmyler Hopper
the other subscribing witness thereto was present at the same time with
this deponent and together with him subscribed his name thereto as a witness
in the presence of the testator and each other and at the request of the
testator and that the testator died more than ten days ago.

being duly sworn do depose and say that the said annexed writing contains
the true last will and testament of John Armstrong the testator therein
named deceased as far as they know and as they verily believe; that they
will as the executors thereof well and truly perform the same by first
paying the debts of said deceased and then the legacies therein specified
as far as the Goods Chattels rights credits and effects of said deceased
will thereunto extend and the law charge them that they will make and exhibit
in the surrogates office of the County of Passaic a true and perfect inventory
of all and singular the said goods chattels rights credits and effects
as far as the same have or shall come to their knowledge or possession
or to the possession of any other person or persons to their use or to
their knowledge; and that they will well and truly account when thereunto
lawfully required.

To the Surrogate of the County of Passaic – You will please take notice that the executors named in the last will and testament of John Armstrong late of the City of Paterson who departed this life on the thirtieth day of October A.D. 1899 do claim the right of administration on his estate agreeably with the said last will and testament and that the names and places of residence of the heirs and next of kin are as follows: his brothers Wm. A. Armstrong Clarendon, Quebec, Canada and Robert R. Armstrong Paterson, N.J. and his nephews and niece James Dougherty, David Dougherty, John J. Dougherty, Robert Dougherty and Robinson Dougherty of Westmeath, Ontario, Canada, John Irwin, Robert William Irwin and Andrew Irwin of Makeny County Tyrone, Ire., and Robert Armstrong, William Armstrong and John Armstrong and Sarah wife of ----- Armstrong of Coolgarden, County Fermanagh, Ire.d all of full age –
